Few weeks before CNY celebration.. a friend of mine asking me if I can do sewing. I really cannot say NO to her.. I really wanted to sew the dress for her.. So I decided to accept her request..

Why?

Because she is a little bit special for me hihi.. Yes! She is Just.. her name JUST.. I been following her blog on her Breast Cancer journey until she finished the treatment and few months later.. I am the one who was diagnosed with BC.. and I am so much prepared to face it.. Thanks to her.

Being in her shoes now.. I know how hard it is to go thru the treatment.. and she is so excited to look good again after alllllll the treatment and loosing the precious hair.. so I wanted her to enjoy that moment.. That is why, no matter how hard I have to face my Chemo side effects.. I still managed to complete her clothing. So sorry that I didn’t managed to complete her daughter’s dress

The 1st process is to complete the top.. Peplum is not that easy to make.. especially that time with the side effects I am facing… yaiks.. my brain was just not working properly.. haha

But I am glad that I finally did it.. and I am so glad when she came for fitting… it fitted perfectly.. no alteration needed… phew!! haha..

I miss sewing.. Now that I am on my 2nd part of my chemo, which the medication was not as bad as the 1st part (Less side effects).. I am planning may be to sew some collection for coming Hari Raya.. but let see how it goes..

Been invited by my neighbour for a last day Hari Raya celebration. I suddenly changed my plan from wearing baju kurung to a Kebaya.. ;p

I changed my mind on the same day itself.. few hours before the invitation.. haha..

My 1st choice from my collection was using the green (Peacock blue) fabric.. unfortunately I spot big stain exactly front part of the fabric.. So I have to go for the 2nd choice.. peach.

.. and the process begun.. I think I took 3 hours plus to completed the whole process from sketching the pattern.. cutting fabric and sewing. The most time consuming part was hemming the press button… ishhhh… but I made it.. ;p

My completed top.. I wanted to have 3/4 sleeves length for this Kebaya..

I matched the Kebaya with my 3/4 length mermaid pleated skirt.. to make it easier for me to run after the boys.. haha. hubby was not around that time and I have to go with the kids..

I love my outfit comes with lining.. because it feels comfortable to wear. A lot of work to deal with clothing with lining tho’. Have to put both body and lining by hand stitching  every pieces. That is why tailor workmanship are quite pricey for any order with lining..

Done with the lining.. started with the hidden zip. The most tricky part.. I 1st done with the skirt and then the top. 90% done by 12 midnight.. continue to complete the final touch on the next morning.. and I am going to wear the outfit on the afternoon.. O.+

I am adding a small flower on my waist line. Making it myself.

Done.. quite tricky but I made it.. . I am having a difficult time to make the flower stick properly on my outfit.. but finally done it.

Excited to make more clothing for myself..

I purchased another new machine for my sewing projects. The one on the left is just for straight sewing. It has been with me for 2 or 3 years now and I am still loving it and happy with it.

The new one is on the right.. The edging machine.. Jahit tepi. I been using the small edging machine from SINGER too (All my machines are from SINGER by the way) and decided to have the heavy duty for a project that I am working on. Coming soon (Finger cross).

If you been following my twitter I mentioned about I purchased a machine and been called back by the shop owner.. ai yai yai..

The night before I purchased the machine.. I did some homework to check what the current market price for that machine.. and it stated as RM2195. The next morning I visited the nearest SINGER shop to purchase. When I browsing thru all the machine.. I saw what I want and a little bit happy to see the price tag on top of the machine written RM2150.

I was actually so excited to know that the price was actually cheap. I reconfirmed with the lady boss and she confirmed it. I paid and went home waiting patiently for the technician guy to bring the machine and install. By the way, I have to pay additional RM40 for the installation.. In my thought.. Oh well that means the price still back to RM2190.. but where is the RM5? But I didn’t bother.

When I was at home.. I got a call from the lady boss and she said.. she gave me a wrong price on that machine.. the price actually gone up to RM2195 and she asked me to pay for the balance RM45 to her technician who will come and install the machine.

At 1st I am reluctant to do so.. because it was obviously her fault.. but in my heart I already know the real price and why should I not paying her.. at the end I just say ok.. and I paid to her technician.

Besides busy with finishing all the Raya order.. I am up with a project.. something that I am passion about which related with sewing.. I will never know if this gonna be IT if I don’t even try or start…

This is how my diaper bag looks like with the cover. I believed you might be thinking why the handle is like that.. hihi..

I actually making a bag as a solution how to have more space on my baby’s stroller. When ever we did shopping.. the stroller will covered with all the shopping bags around. I wanted the lower compartment of the stroller can be stored with more things.. instead of only the diaper bag conquering the whole space.

So I saw a sample of bag which made by other blogger.. where she can hang the bag on the stroller pushing handle. I like that idea.. and I design mine with a little twist.

I purposely wanted a huge covered for my bag for saftey.. :p

The handle is designed to hang on the stroller’s pushing handle. So when the bag is hanging.. it’s easier for me to take any stuff including my money when ever doing payment (Don’t have to squatting down anymore.. I seldom bring my own handbag when shopping with the kids.. ;p)

I put zipper at the back of my bag.. to keep my belonging like purse especially. For now.. I am using just a normal zipper for my 1st bag.. (Can’t find zipper for bag around yet).

On both sides of my bag I add a pocket with elastic on the opener. Most of the time I will put the milk bottles on both side of my bag..

Front part I add 2 pockets. Another zipper on top.. double protection.. ha! I am using normal zipper for this too.. Will look for bag zipper on my next project soon..

This is the interior looks of my bag. I wanted to have pockets all around the interior but decided to make only part of it  because I thought I already have the back pocket on that side so just left it empty. Don’t want it too bulky and nothing can fits on the middle later on.

This is my how my handle look. I need to bring it to the sewing supply shop to make the buttons for me. I went to the shop recently and forgot to bring this bag.. how silly am I.. now have to return to the shop again. *sigh*.

I am going to make a long stripe to hook on both handles to reform into a sling bag too..

Short update on my Sewing project. I am into bag making this time.. still with my dress making passion.. but recently got hitched with all this tote bag.. diaper’s bag making..

I bought some heavy fabric from IKEA.. and I have my design sketched (Inspired by some other bag maker blog out there) and I really cannot wait to start this project.

Till then..

One of the project.. the last one was this.. Full lining and need beading. Full lining is not an easy job especially fabric like Chiffon or like this one is Opel. But Opel is a little bit easier than Chiffon.

Most tailor will asked for extra charges for any fabric like this. But in my case.. Same price as long as it no stones on it.. *Sigh*… Cheap.. me..

Anyway I will asked double price for full lining..:)

And the beading.. This is my trademark.. Manik Tabur.. ;-p. Looks simple but I tell you it’s a hard work. I increased my price on beading recently.. ha! Don’t want to be cheapskate anymore.. it’s a though job.

My customer satisfied with my job and said sending more fabric.. *gulp*.. anyway.. bring it on! haha..

My 1st planned was to have a flare dress.. but due to the time consume I have to go for plan B.. which I think easier to sew. So I go for an A cut dress.

Pattern making on progress.. Very very last minutes! I need to wear the dress on the next day and I started making the pattern and cutting the fabric almost afternoon.. yaiks!

I have to stopped half way to make ways to do the cake baking.. and believe it or not.. I only sew the dress on the next day on the party day itself.. I woke up at almost 6am.. which I actually set my alarm at 5.30am.. O.+

I estimate to finish sewing the dress around 7.30am (By hook or by crook!).. surprisingly I done it before 7am! Woohoo!!

I have extra lace.. so I put on my dress skirting to make it prettier.. ;p

I used hidden zipper at the back.. and this is the final result.. I personally love it. I am so gonna sew more dress like this with pretty fabric may be with a little bit twist.. with a collar may be.. front button?? Oh.. I can’t wait..

The dress so perfect and comfortable on my body.. (hiding my tummy but still giving a little figure on my side line… ahaks..)

I love the sleeves!! Thank you sister for teaching me the tricks.. I know how to make sleeves before but her tips gave me extra comfortable! Loving it!

Me with the dress on my little baby birthday.. My hubby was actually excited when I said I am making a Minnie inspired dress for the party.. He even went out that day just to find me that Huge ribbons on my head!! LOL..

So excited about that.. any how a little bit sad that my good friend will not be able to join us..

When I am still in KL.. I already started to search for a dress where the theme has been SET by the host which will be only dress.. strictly no pants with red or white colours.. No flowers.. (Oh come onnn.. ;-p)

Any how.. to be a good guest.. I am gonna follow the theme.. may be not 100%… but at least 90%. ;-p

When I was still in KL.. I was watching the cooking show ‘French Cook At Home’.. love her.. and I am so fall in love with her dress.. which are categorize as Vintage style.. When I saw her dress.. in my heart said THIS IS IT! I am gonna wear that.. hihi

Now that I am in KK.. I sketched the dress out with a little bit twist on the neck. I wanted the frills underneath the collar but I just felt not enough time for that.. (Please pardon the size of the dress.. I am a plus size woman but always draw a skinny size model on my sketch.. ahakss)

Me and sister went to the fabric shop here in KK.. and I decided to go for a red with a white polka dots.. I suddenly become a huge fan of RED.. haha.. I cannot find exact red for the lining.. so magenta will do..

I am using Cotton.. Medium good quality of cotton.. and if you want your cotton to look classy… put lining.. ^_^.. Not advisable on Baju Kurung thou..

The hard part or expensive part of making a garment will be the making of the pattern. I am making pattern on brown paper. I am so happy to learn some sleeve technique from my sister… and in return.. I share my technique on making the express collar.. hihi.. That’s what we love to do when creating a ‘masterpiece’.. ^_^

This is my 1st time making a front half button dress.. I am using the blouse technique for the button split area.. really2 saved fabric.. ^_^

Instead of having extra 2 inches for the button hole.. I just split the front half way and sew the facing. Unless you want it split and buttons all the way.

This is how the dress so far.. Notice the plits on my waist line on skirts? Next time I am gonna make small gathered instead.. it will looks more even and pretty.. ^_^

To make the story short.. this is the final result.. Super love the dress… I am so gonna make few more of this with different colours.. ^_^..

I made my own belt too.. the buckle wrapped using the same material.. same goes to my buttons.. I went to JELIP Sinsuran KK for the buckle and buttons wrapping service.

Gonna match my dress with my red heels.. can’t wait to put them all.. ^_^

Excited..

Current project.. making a blouse for a friend. She gave me a sample blouse to follow. My 1st attempted trying to make the neck was not successful. She wanted to have a Cheongsam neck look a like but it flatten.. But I made it standing (1st pic) like ‘leher cekak Musang’ pulak.. ;-p

Luckily I have extra kain to make another colar.. ^_^.. After thinking and have a little discussion with my sister.. finally got it right.

Tips: To Make the neck stand.. penjuru leher naik 1++ inch only… To make it flatten.. make it higher.. I put 2.5inches.. ^_^

Another project for a neighbour friend.. Kurung pesak gantung..

..and the fabric balance, my friend asked me to make a baju kurung for her little girl.. I almost forgot about her instruction to make this.. Kelam kabut last minute buat.. unfortunately the fabric don’t have much balance.. and I suggested her to use any matching plain fabric as the kain/skirt..

So she did not managed to have this set of baju.. kesian si kecil tak merasa baju baru.. -_-. Now that she gave me the task to look for the matching kain.. Oh mann… so hard to find the exact colour… :s

Try to look at Kamdar cannot find.. May be tomorrow try to find at Nagoya pula.. finger cross..
